Hatch The Chicken delivers an all-inclusive, in-home chick hatching experience right to your home, senior care homes, schools, libraries, and more. We provide fertilized eggs, an incubator, a brooder, starter feed, and full support—making it easy and fun to welcome new life with your family, no farm or prior experience required.

We offer rentals from February through July based on availability.

Five week indoor rental
Delivery, setup, and pick-up (within the parameters of the Free Delivery area outlined below)

High powered "candling light" to examine the eggs during incubation

Hatch The Duck Rental Package

$300

We offer rentals in the Summer and Fall based on availability

Previous participation in Hatch The Chicken is a requirement prior to signing up for Hatch The Duck

Five high quality hatching duck eggs

Our Rental Packages include FREE DELIVERY within 80 kms of Rockwood, ON N0B 2K0. This includes most of west of 404 and the Don Valley Parkway, New Tecumseth and south, east to Hamilton. For customers outside of our FREE DELIVERY area, please use the form on this page to request a delivery quote or call us toll free 844-310-8782 or use our contact form for a delivery quote.

Possible Additional Fees: Due to the increase of feed cost and fuel cost, closer to delivery, there may be a slight surcharge for one or both of these items.

Rockwood, Ontario - Homestead Berty serves the GTA and South-Central Ontario! With Homestead Berty growing up in Amsterdam, she never had been up close to a chicken until way into her 30s! One day, her daughter was given chicks and since then they were hooked. In her opinion, chickens are the funniest and most therapeutic animals on this planet! Just sit with or watch a chicken and all will be calm! On top of that, they provide the most delicious eggs every day! Homestead Berty is so happy that she has the opportunity to share all of this with other people through our Hatch The Chicken program. She is looking forward to meeting you!

What happens to the chicks?

Here are a number of scenarios as to what happens to the baby chicks after our Hatch The Chicken program is complete:

The girls are raised to be hens for Rent The Chicken
The girls are raised as breeding stock for Hatch The Chicken
The boys are raised to be roosters to fertilize eggs for Hatch The Chicken
The girls are raised to lay eggs for our families
The boys are raised to protect our flocks to help keep them safe
The chicks are sold to families looking to expand their flocks
The roosters are sold to families looking to protect their flock

We can't confirm what other organizations do with their baby chicks after a hatching program but we know with our whole hearts that all of the chicks hatched with our Hatch The Chicken program provide a purpose following the rental. We value their lives and value what they bring to our business and those who participate in our programs.
