Hatch The Chicken Victoria is brought to you by Bees Please Farms Homestead Kate & Mike. Now serving Victoria and nearby areas, Hatch The Chicken brings the wonder of baby  chick hatching right into your home or facility - school, daycare,  preschool, senior care home, library, etc. Our all-inclusive, inside program provides fertilized eggs, an incubator, a brooder, starter feed, and full support—making it simple and exciting for families to experience new life without needing a farm or prior experience.

  • We offer rentals from February through July based on availability.

  • Delivery, setup, and pick-up (within the parameters of the Free Delivery area outlined below)

  • Seven high quality hatching eggs

  • High powered "candling light" to examine the eggs during incubation

  • Rent The Chicken Chick Starter Kit - brooder box, wood shavings, chick feed, water dish, feed dish, and deluxe heat source

2025 Hatch The Duck Rental Package

$325 CDN +PST & GST (12%)

  • Previous participation in Hatch The Chicken is a requirement prior to signing up for Hatch The Duck

  • Five week indoor rental

  • We offer rentals in the Summer based on availability.

  • Delivery, setup, and pick-up (within the parameters of the Free Delivery area outlined below)

  • Mini incubator

  • Five high quality hatching duck eggs

  • High powered "candling light" to examine the eggs during incubation

  • Hatch Starter Kit - brooder box, wood shavings, chick feed, water dish, feed dish, and deluxe heat source

  • Quick guide on caring for the incubator, high quality hatching eggs, and ducklings

Additional Notes

Possible Transportation Fees:Our Rental Packages include FREE DELIVERY within 60 kms of Victoria, BC V9C 3X8. For customers outside of our FREE DELIVERY area, please call us at 844-310-8782 for a delivery quote.


Possible Additional Fees: Due to the increase of feed cost and fuel cost, closer to delivery, there may be a slight surcharge for one or both of these items.

 

Hatch The Chicken renters who are participating in Rent The Chicken with coordinated delivery or pick-up of both Rent The Chicken and Hatch The Chicken receive a $25 discount.

Victoria, British Columbia - Homestead Kate and Mike serve Victoria and the surrounding areas. Homestead Kate started Bees Please Farms as a way to help people in the city get to enjoy mini farms on their own properties. She grew up in Greater Vancouver and by no means was a farm girl, but as soon as she bought a house with her husband and started food gardening she was hooked. Homestead Kate rents out chickens as an affiliate of Rent The Chicken, and also rents out bees throughout the city. "I get to meet so many great people through my business. People want to feel that connection to where their food comes from. They also want to do what they can to support the environment. I help them do this and it couldn't make me happier." What happens to the chicks?

Here are a number of scenarios as to what happens to the baby chicks after our Hatch The Chicken program is complete:

  • The girls are raised to be hens for Rent The Chicken

  • The girls are raised as breeding stock for Hatch The Chicken

  • The boys are raised to be roosters to fertilize eggs for Hatch The Chicken

  • The girls are raised to lay eggs for our families

  • The boys are raised to protect our flocks to help keep them safe

  • The chicks are sold to families looking to expand their flocks

  • The roosters are sold to families looking to protect their flock

We can't confirm what other organizations do with their baby chicks after a hatching program but we know with our whole hearts that all of the chicks hatched with our Hatch The Chicken program provide a purpose following the rental. We value their lives and value what they bring to our business and those who participate in our programs.
