We provide a portable coop, egg-laying hens, feed, supplies, and full support—so you can enjoy daily fresh eggs and the charm of chickens without the responsibility of permanent ownership.

Love The Discount?
We will credit $50 off of your Rent The Chicken or adoption for every friend referred who Rents The Chicken. Credits can never be refunded as cash and can never be used for more than one Rental Season at a time.
Possible Transportation Fees
Our Rental Packages include delivery to the Chambersburg / Shippensburg / Gettysburg Areas for a total transportation fee for delivery and pick-up for $40-$120. Please call us toll-free at 844-310-8782 for a firm delivery delivery quote.
Additional Notes
We provide enough nesting material to get your rental started. What you use after that is up to you—some families prefer pine shavings, while others use grass clippings or materials that fit best with their composting routine. If you’d like the ease of having pine shavings on hand for the whole rental period, you can add a bag to your rental for just $10.
Possible Additional Fees
Due to the increase of feed cost, tolls, and fuel cost, closer to delivery, there may be a slight surcharge for one or both of these items.
Newport, Pennsylvania – Homestead Chris serves Central Pennsylvania and the Greater Philadelphia Area from his 5 acre farm in Newport, PA. Homestead Chris was injured in a work related accident in 2017. To God be the glory that he’s made quite a recovery! His chickens are provided with fresh pasture every morning to give a variety of vegetation and insects. His donkeys provide protection to the flock. All of his animals are out in the sunshine all day with opportunities to go under shelter as needed. Since joining the Rent The Chicken family in the spring of 2015, he has had a fun time sharing the joys of raising chickens with families and individuals that would not have had this opportunity otherwise. Over the summer of 2015, he also provided two hens on Broadway with Penn and Teller!
